SEA OF HANDS

Wat Rong Khun, Chiang Rai, Thailand

The main reason why we decided to take a trip up north of Bangkok, this one of a kind temple is definitely the highlight of one’s North Thailand oddventures. Located a few kilometers away from Chiang Rai’s city center, the all white Wat Rong Khun is probably the most unconvetional contemporary Buddhist-Hindu temple thereis. Underneath all the quirks (including a sculpture of the Predator), lies a deeper philosophy, just portrayed in the weirdest way possible.

(And by the way, this photo won in a Lonely Planet Flickr contest. Thank you Lonely Planet!)

    • That actually represents hell, you walk on a small bridge going to the temple, above them! Parang earthly, worldly, material stuff, before entering the temple.
